Black Leaf Kale - Nero Di Toscana - 2 g
Expiration Date:
Available in stock (29)
Origin: A classic heirloom Italian kale variety with deep green to almost black textured leaves, traditionally grown in Tuscany and central Italy
Flavour: Robust and earthy with a slightly sweet, rich flavour that becomes more pronounced after a light frost
Best place to grow: Open fields, raised beds, or containers in full sun to light shade with fertile, well-drained soil
Fun Fact: Known as “dinosaur kale” due to its long, savoyed leaves that resemble prehistoric foliage
Shape, size & colour: Upright plants with long, narrow, heavily savoyed dark green leaves that can reach substantial lengths and provide a striking architectural look in the garden
Applications: Excellent for fresh salads, sautéing, soups, stews, stir-fries, and winter greens; leaves remain productive over a long season and are especially tasty after cold weather
Planting Period: March to May (indoors) or April to June (direct sow)
Maturity Period: 65–95 days from sowing depending on conditions
