Herkomst: Witlof ‘Bingo’ is een Belgische witloofvariëteit die is ontwikkeld voor compacte, stevige kroppen van hoge kwaliteit en betrouwbare resultaten tijdens het trekken.
Smaak: Licht bitter, knapperig en subtiel nootachtig, met een frisse verfijnde smaak die zachter en iets zoeter wordt na bleken of bereiden.
Beste standplaats: Groeit het best in de vollegrond, verhoogde bakken en vruchtbare moestuinen op een zonnige plek met losse, goed doorlatende grond.
Leuk weetje: Witlof wordt traditioneel na de worteloogst in het donker getrokken. Zo ontstaan de bleke, stevig gesloten kropjes die we als witlof kennen.
Vorm, grootte en kleur: Vormt tijdens de groei rechtopstaand groen blad en ontwikkelt tijdens het trekken compacte, langwerpige roomwitte kropjes met lichtgele punten.
Toepassingen: Ideaal voor frisse salades, ovenschotels, stomen, roosteren, smoren en klassieke Belgische en Franse gerechten.
Zaaitijd: April tot juni
Teeltduur: Ongeveer 120–150 dagen na het zaaien, inclusief de trekperiode
